I love Columbus, Georgia, and still have so many amazing restaurants to visit, but recently I found myself in Smiths Station, AL, and decided to check out the popular @usacajunstation. I’ve been getting messages about them for a while but just hadn’t had the chance to check them out until now.
The Anticipation
When I heard they had a Hot Honey Fried Catfish with Seafood Mac N Cheese special, I knew I had to give it a try, and I’m glad I did 🤤. I saw some photos they posted on their Facebook page, which looked good. But when you do what I do, you come to expect that the food never looks as good as the photo.
First Impressions
Well, in this case, I was wrong! The moment I opened the box, I was literally left in shock because the food looked better than the photo. The portion size was massive. I got two huge pieces of fish sitting on top of a ton of seafood mac n cheese. I also decided to add some fried shrimp to it. And let me tell you, I’m not a massive fan of fish, but this dish was slapping! 😎
The Hot Honey Fried Catfish
The fish was seasoned to perfection, and the batter was just right—not too crispy and not too wet. It stayed on the fish and didn’t fall off. That hit of honey 🍯 with the warmth of the fish and batter really elevated this dish. I’m comfortable saying that this was easily one of the best pieces of fish I’ve ever had!
The Seafood Mac N Cheese
The seafood mac n cheese was solid, with a good amount of cheese, plenty of shrimp, and well-seasoned. It complemented the catfish perfectly, adding a creamy and savory element to the meal.
The Fried Shrimp
And the fried shrimp? Nice size, seasoned well, and good batter. I was expecting a good meal as the Cajun Station has a good reputation. But what I got was an incredible meal!
A Hidden Gem
I typically only highlight restaurants in Columbus, but once in a while, if it’s not too far, I will check out spots we Columbus folk can easily travel to, and they should definitely be on the list! Next time, I want to give their seafood boils a try as I hear they’re really good!
