Uptown Columbus has come a long way — and these days, it’s not just a downtown. It’s a destination. From hidden gems to high-end bites, the local food scene keeps leveling up. And the newest addition? Frank’s Alley, bringing serious New York street food energy to the heart of Columbus.
When I heard a fast-casual spot inspired by classic NYC hot dog carts was opening — complete with Sabrett’s beef dogs and a legit alleyway-style setup — I knew I had to check it out.
And let me tell you, Frank’s delivers.
A Little NYC Flavor, Right Here in Uptown
Walking into Frank’s Alley doesn’t feel like your usual lunch spot. It’s narrow, gritty in a good way, and leans into the whole “alley cart” vibe. No fancy menus or sit-down service here. This is walk-up, grab-it, and-go — just like the real deal in the Big Apple.
The hot dogs are 100% beef Sabrett’s, 5:1 size (meaning thick, juicy, and filling). And yeah, they look a little different. That’s because they’re scored before grilling — a smart touch that helps them cook more evenly and hold onto toppings better. Not boiled. Not bland. Definitely not boring.

What I Tried
I went all in and ordered three dogs: The Manhattan, Coney Island, and The Bronx.
The Manhattan
Topped with house-made chili, beer cheese, hand-sliced pickles, and potato straws.
I wasn’t sure what to expect — especially since beer cheese isn’t usually my thing — but this one blew me away. The chili was savory, the cheese smooth, and the pickles and potato straws added just the right crunch. It’s messy, rich, and totally satisfying.
Coney Island
Chili, shredded cheese, mustard, and red onions.
If you’re not sure where to start, start here. It’s classic, it’s balanced, and that chili? Full of flavor without being heavy. My favorite of the bunch.
The Bronx
Sauerkraut, spicy brown mustard, and their house sauce.
This one brought me back to my last NYC street dog — zippy, tangy, and layered with flavor. If you like a little bite, this one’s for you.

Why Frank’s Works
Frank’s Alley isn’t trying to be something it’s not. It’s fast, casual, and built around one thing: really good hot dogs done right. That’s the whole play — and it works.
You’ll find Ross running the show — friendly, focused, and clearly passionate about what he’s building. And based on the local buzz and the early Google reviews? People are loving it.
