I had to take care of some life stuff, but I’m back. One of the questions I get asked the most is who has the best wings in Columbus? And that’s a rough one because food is so subjective. Everyone has a wing spot they like the best. And while I love wings, I haven’t really found any here in Columbus that blow me away…until now!
Introducing Dre’s Top Shelf
@dres_topshelf is a local food truck that has been making a name for itself, especially with its delicious wings. If you’ve been to any of the Street Food Saturday @sfscolumbusga events, then you’ve probably seen him and his red truck!
First Impressions
I wasn’t expecting much because I’ve always felt most of the wings in Columbus are similar. Mostly small, with the only difference being the flavors and sauces. But when I placed my order and he opened the box in front of me, it was a thing of glory 😍.
The Wings
The wings were bigger than the usual wings here in Columbus but not massive. Just the right size for me. Each wing was perfectly coated with his flavorful sauces and cooked a little bit longer, which I love as it gives each wing that little “bite”. The quality of the wings is impressive, and the star is definitely his sauces.
Flavor Explosion
Hot Sauce: His hot-flavored sauce is tongue-smackin’ good, and I don’t even like hot-flavored sauces. I’m a mild guy! Let the jokes fly 😅. But his sauces have so much flavor. The hot one brings the heat, it’s bold, and has that little hit of sweet that just brings it together. And unlike some wing places, he doesn’t slack on the sauce.
Other Flavors: He has a number of different flavors such as Hot, Carolina BBQ, Lemon Pepper, Teriyaki, and a few other ones. The first time I tried them I fell in love, but with a lot of the food I try, I like to go back for seconds or thirds before I post them here. And so far, I’ve been a total of five times now and each time, the wings have me on cloud nine!
The Downside
My only issue with them? I can’t get them whenever I want since it’s a food truck and he is constantly in different locations. 😅 It’s rare for me to feature wings as they have to be something special. And in my personal opinion, at this moment, they’re the best wings in Columbus!
Conclusion
If you’re a wing lover in Columbus and haven’t tried Dre’s Top Shelf, make it a priority. The combination of perfectly cooked wings and a variety of incredible sauces makes this food truck a standout. Keep an eye out for his red truck at local events and enjoy what I believe are the best wings in town.
